Media persons ‘barred’ from covering Kashmir interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma's Kupwara visit | KNO

REPRESENTATION PHOTO: Media professionals were on Monday “barred” from covering the activities of Government of India’s special representative Dineshwar Sharma maiden's visit to frontier district of Kupwara. A number of delegations from across the district are lined up at Dak Bungalow Kupwara to interact with Sharma, who is on the third visit to Jammu and Kashmir since his appointment. Sharma arrived at the district headquarters around 1:45 PM amid a tight security cover. "We are not allowed to go inside the dak bungalow. His first visit to this border district is so significant but we are not being allowed to cover the proceedings," said a journalist. Local journalists representing various newspapers and news agencies were also denied permission to cover the event. Sharma is scheduled to meet at least 40 delegations from across the district, including border town Machil and Karnah. (Kashmir Wire)
